Step 1: Obtain Your Authorization Code (EPP Code)
Before initiating a domain transfer, you'll need your authorization code (also called an EPP code or transfer key).
This unique security code prevents unauthorized domain transfers and must be obtained from your current registrar.
How to get your auth code:
- Log into your current registrar's control panel
- Navigate to domain management settings
- Look for "Auth Code," "EPP Code," or "Transfer Key"
- Alternatively, contact your current provider's support team
Note: Ensure your domain is unlocked at your current registrar before proceeding.
Step 2: Verify Domain Transfer Eligibility
According to ICANN regulations, domains must meet specific criteria before transfer. Your domain must be:
- At least 60 days old from registration or last transfer date
- Unlocked at your current registrar (not in "Registrar Lock" status)
- Not expired or in redemption period
- Valid contact information in WHOIS records
If your domain meets these requirements, use the search bar above to begin your transfer. We support transfers for
.ie, .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, .eu and over 500 other domain extensions.
Step 3: Complete Your Transfer Request
Once you've searched for your domain, follow these simple steps:
- Click the "Transfer to GetYour.ie" button next to your domain
- Enter your authorization code when prompted
- Fill in your contact details and create your GetYour.ie account
- Review transfer details and complete secure payment
- Approve the transfer email sent to your registered email address
Transfer timeline: Most transfers complete in 24-48 hours, though some extensions may take 5-7 days.
You'll receive email notifications at each stage of the process. Our support team monitors all transfers to ensure smooth completion.
Step 4: Confirm Transfer and Cancel Old Service
After your domain transfer completes successfully:
- Verify your domain is active in your GetYour.ie control panel
- Check that your website and email services are functioning normally
- Update your DNS records if needed (our support team can assist)
- Cancel your service with your previous registrar to avoid duplicate charges
Important: Don't cancel your old registrar service until you've confirmed your domain is fully transferred
and all services are working properly with GetYour.ie.
